The artist
Abby Brooks is an artist from Memphis, TN. Upon graduating from the University of Memphis with an Art Education degree, she taught art to grades K-8 for two years. While teaching, she created her own art business selling stickers, prints, and shirts and eventually left education to pursue art-making fully. Today, she tattoos full time, something she used to call her “alternate universe” career. She looks forward to continually learning, growing, and making all kinds of art!
The art
Abby is passionate about inner child work and mental health, and she explores growing up (or learning how not to) through her bright, playful imagery. Whimsical natural elements and anthropomorphic figures are recurring subjects in her work. She loves her cats, Dandy and Possum, thrifting for trinkets, hula-hooping, and traveling whenever possible. Abby finds inspiration through people-watching, children’s book illustrations, music, and kitschy, nostalgic objects and imagery.
